The EU commits 1.5 million more in humanitarian aid to the Philippines after the passage of typhoon 'Kristine'

BRUSSELS Oct. 30 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The European Commission announced this Wednesday additional aid of 1.5 million euros to assist the vulnerable population in the Philippines most affected by the passage of typhoon ‘Krisine’ – also called ‘Trami’ -, especially for those who They have lost their homes after floods and landslides that have left numerous victims and material damage.

“I am saddened to see how, just days after my visit to Manila, the Philippines is again hit hard by a natural disaster this year,” Crisis Management Commissioner Janez Lenarcic said in a statement.

In any case, the community representative has stated that the European Union “is prepared to come to the aid of the population that is on the front line of climate-related disasters.”

The tropical storm left more than a hundred dead and dozens missing in its path through the country last Thursday, especially affecting the Bicol region.
