The European Union (EU) has assured this Tuesday that “no one will win” in an escalation of the conflict between the Israeli Army and the Shiite party-militia Hezbollah on the Lebanese-Israeli border following the start of hostilities in the Strip. from Gaza.

“No one will gain from a broader regional conflict. A de-escalation of the situation would contribute significantly to the resolution of the broader Middle East conflict,” reads a statement shared by the EU diplomatic service.

In that sense, it has been “increasingly concerned” about the increase in tensions along the Blue Line, which serves as the border between both countries, where the populations on both sides of it have been forced to move. .

This is why, based on UN Security Council resolution 1701, it has asked all actors involved to contain themselves and prevent future tensions, and to collaborate with international diplomatic efforts.

During the same day, Israel’s war cabinet minister Benny Gantz assured that the Government will resolve the situation with Hezbollah either through an “agreement” with the Lebanese authorities or through “an escalation” of the attacks.

Israel’s Minister of National Security, the far-right Itamar Ben Gvir, has spoken along the same lines, calling for the “destruction” of Hezbollah’s “bastions” through “a war” against Lebanon.

The Israeli Army and Hezbollah – backed by Iran and which has significant political weight in Lebanon – have been engaged in a series of clashes since October 8, a day after the attacks carried out by Hamas, which left nearly 1,200 dead. dead and some 240 kidnapped, according to the balance sheets provided by the Israeli authorities.
