The Member States of the European Union approved this Monday financial assistance of 13.25 million euros to strengthen the Jordanian Armed Forces, in a show of support for the region in the face of the instability generated by the war in Gaza and Lebanon. .
Specifically, the aid is intended to reinforce the northern and eastern commands of the Jordanian Army with detection and response systems, surveillance and reconnaissance systems, as well as mobility and engineering equipment.
These funds come after the trip of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, to the region and is part of the support of the 27 through the European Peace Mechanism to guarantee the stability and national security of Jordan and protect the civilian population.
The EU sees Amman as a key partner in the Middle East due to its instrumental role in the stability of the region, “as a voice of moderation and peace,” the Council said in a statement.
