BRUSSELS, Aug. 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The High Representative for Foreign Policy of the EU, Josep Borrell, has called on the Government of Ethiopia and the rebels of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Tigray (TPLF) to lower the tension before the current escalation of confrontations “leads again to a full-scale war.”

Borrell has stated on Twitter that the news coming from the African country sows doubts about the possibility of a dialogue between the parties. “Now is the time for peace talks,” stressed the head of European diplomacy.

The EU thus joins the calls for calm that the UN and the African Union have also made throughout the day, after the warring parties warned of the resumption of hostilities in northern Ethiopia.
