For this, Europe will make available more than 100 million euros of community financing.
“We will cooperate in border management, the fight against smuggling, return and the treatment of root causes in full respect of international law. […] Equally important is our work to facilitate regular legal migration.”declared von der Leyen. “It is now up to the EU member states to approve the agreement reached between the European Commission and Tunisia.”
75,065 migrants have disembarked in Italy since the beginning of 2023 (until July 14). Last year the arrivals were 31,920 in total.
The total of arrivals in Europe by sea is 92,916 from the beginning of the year to July 10.
