MADRID Nov. 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Egyptian Armed Forces have flatly denied that there is collaboration with the Israeli Army, amid speculation on social networks about this possibility within the framework of the offensive against the Gaza Strip and the invasion of Lebanon.
The spokesperson for the Egyptian Armed Forces, Qarib Abdelhafez, stated in a statement published on his account on the social network Facebook that “there is no form of cooperation with Israel”, before ensuring that the Army is aware of the content published by “suspicious accounts” on social networks.
“We ask everyone to verify the accuracy of any information shared and reaffirm that the Armed Forces are the shield and sword of the nation, committed to protecting its resources and defending its great people,” Abdelhafez concluded.
The reaction has come after information about the arrival at the port of Alexandria of a German ship that was supposedly transporting military supplies for Israel, which unleashed criticism on social networks against the authorities in Cairo.
Egypt is, along with Qatar and the United States, one of the countries that carries out mediation work between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to try to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the scene of a military offensive following of the attacks carried out on October 7, 2023 by the Islamist group and other Palestinian factions.
