The Ebola outbreak in Uganda already leaves at least eight dead and 38 confirmed cases

Oct. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –

There are already eight confirmed deaths from the Ebola outbreak declared on September 20 in Uganda, whose health authorities have also verified another 38 cases until last Friday, according to the Ministry of Health of the African country.

One of the latest deceased is the Tanzanian doctor Mohamed Ali, who succumbed to the virus during the early hours of Friday to Saturday, as confirmed by the authorities on his Twitter account.

Likewise, the Ministry has confirmed that at least 417 people are under surveillance for having been in contact with infected people.

The NGO Doctors Without Borders (MSF) installed an Ebola treatment center this week in Mubende, in order to respond to the outbreak in support of the Ministry of Health.

The organization is also considering opening a second center in Madudu, a city 25 kilometers further north and where the first person to die from this outbreak came from, as well as where several suspected cases have been registered, as reported by MSF in a statement.
