The magnitude 7 earthquake on the Richter scale recorded on Wednesday in the Philippines has so far left 12,945 people affected and has caused the evacuation of 1,248 people on the island of Luzon, where at least five people have died and more than a hundred have been earthquake injuries.
The latest balance from the National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) indicates that 868 homes, 23 roads have been affected, as well as five bridges. In addition, the working day has had to be suspended in more than fifty cities throughout the country.
The earthquake, whose epicenter is in the province of Abra, 335 kilometers north of Manila, has a hypocenter that is located about ten kilometers deep, as indicated by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). ).
Currently 567 people remain in temporary reception centers. It is estimated that the damage caused to infrastructure amounts to 33.8 million pesos (almost 600,000 euros).
