We are accustomed to the fact that most of DJI’s drones -not all- are designed for home users, and are intended entirely for recording video shots, but DJI Matrice 350 RTK It is a totally different animal, because in this case we find a drone capable of carrying any device we need.
For example, we can use a laser scanner mounted on the drone to inspect elements that are at a great height, or even map a large portion of the ground, all this with the hardware that we want to use and that is not necessarily anchored to the DJI ecosystem.
Evidently, The Matrice 350 RTK has cameras on board, but they are reserved for use with the binocular vision system which, together with an infrared sensor, allows automatic detection and avoidance of obstacles. This system can work in conjunction with an optional circular-scanning radar that allows other more subtle obstacles to be detected from distances of 30 meters, while still having enough room to maneuver.
This drone can operate up to 20km from the operator, with a range of up to 55 minutes thanks to two hotswappable batteries, and carry up to 2.7kg of additional equipment. So while its pricing hasn’t been announced yet, it’s definitely not a home drone.
