discord has announced that, from now on, the Activities function, to share games and multimedia content with other users, it is available for all users of the platform and for free.
The Discord Activities feature allows enjoy experiences with friends in real timesuch as games and multimedia content, from the platform itself and through different activities based on games such as Poker Night, Sketch Heads, Chess in The Park, or Land-io, among others.
Initially this feature was released exclusively for the Discord Nitro subscription plan. That is, they could only be accessed by paying a subscription from $2.99 per month.
However, Discord has announced that as of now, all users will have access to this functionality for free, As the platform has explained in a statement on its website. Thus, any user who participates in a voice call, either from the computer, the web or a ‘smartphone’you can participate in the activities with your friends.
To access this function, users will only have to click on a new icon, located in the interface next to the buttons for screen and video sharing. In the same way, if users want to join a friend’s activity that has already been started, they simply hover their mouse over the voice channel where the activity is taking place. A new option to ‘Join the activity’ will automatically appear.
On the other hand, Discord has detailed that each game has a limited number of participants, although there is also other games that are unlimited. In addition, you can also carry out several activities in a single channel voice at the same time.
With this, he recalled that some activities such as Putting Party (a game of miniature golf) or watch together (which allows users to view the same YouTube video simultaneously), were already available in the Discord Classic option.
Now, other activities have been introduced such as PokerNight 2.0, Putt Party Paradise -a Mini golf game with more levels and new features-; chess in the park, which recreates the classic board game; either Gartic Phonewith which users must “give life” to some phrases through drawings.
