The director of the Gaza hospital Kamal Adwan reports that he has been injured by Israeli shrapnel

MADRID 24 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The director of the Kamal Adwan hospital, one of the last operational medical centers in northern Gaza, reported this Sunday that he had been injured by shrapnel from an Israeli bombardment in the area and is now conscious, but convalescing.

Dr. Hosam Abu Safiya explained that he was injured this past Saturday in an Israeli attack on the center. “I was injured when I was doing my job, which is a great honor for me,” he said in a message published by the Al Jazeera network.

The director of the center has also indicated that 12 other doctors were injured in the same bombing and that the facilities, as the Gazan authorities already indicated on Monday, are in danger of closing their doors in the next few hours due to a lack of fuel and medicine.

Health authorities are calling for the unrestricted entry of fuel, medicines and basic needs, as well as the arrival of medical equipment, particularly to the north of the enclave, “to maintain the continuity of hospitals in the provision of humanitarian and health services.”
