The signals of the DGT are going to suffer some changes. Images that are renewed, some that change completely and new notices to adapt to the new times, with the aim of making them clearer and simpler. Some signs that will come into force on January 2, 2023.
As read in what is still the Draft Royal Decree but whose text is already closed, the current signage dates from some changes published in 2003, so the DGT has set to work to adapt some signs to improve their reading when we are circulating.
The new signs and the most obvious changes
Among the signs that the DGT will reform, we find some that refer to notices and others of obligation, but also others brand new. All of them can be found in this link.
Among the more subtle changes, those related to zebra crossings, slippery pavement or the letters of the signs (such as Stop) will receive small modifications. Most are focused on easier and clearer readingbut new ones also appear.
Signal P-24a: Passage of animals in freedom (wild boars)
We will no longer only have a signal to warn of “animals in freedom” (P-24, the one featuring the deer) or that of “domesticated animals or cattle” (P-23, in which a cow appears). Now we will also have a specific one for wild boars.
“Danger due to the proximity of a place where the road can frequently be crossed by animals in freedom, dealing with a very significant proportion of wild boars,” reads the text of the draft.

Signal P-33: Reduced visibility
Until now, the signal that warned of possible fog banks or areas of reduced visibility used a car with points around it. However, this signal can be misleading with another that we will see very soon in the low emission zone.
The meaning this time is the same: “a section in which circulation is frequently hampered by a notable loss of visibility due to fog, rain, snow, smoke, etc.” However, the new image is clearer, depicting a car entering what appears to be a fog bank.
Signal P-35: Twisted
A notice to signal “the proximity of a section between a confluence and a fork where different lane change movements occur by vehicles, crossing their paths and thereby increasing the risk of collisions”
Or, what is the same, the presence of a twisted lane, those lanes that are used indistinctly for joining a road or to leave it a few meters later.

When can the DGT fine you for not wearing a helmet on a bicycle or electric scooter (and what is the penalty)
Sign P-118: Entry prohibited to personal mobility vehicles
As with bicycles and mopeds, personal mobility vehicles (mostly scooters) will have their own signal in those places where they cannot pass.
We can find it, for example, at the entrances to secondary roads or high-speed roads such as motorways or dual carriageways.
