The attacks in the last 24 hours leave 60 dead and almost 170 injured

The Lebanese authorities reported this Friday that the death toll from the Israeli offensive that began more than a year ago against the Shiite militia party Hezbollah amounts to 2,229 people, while another 10,380 have been injured.
This has been confirmed by the coordinator of the Emergency Committee of the Lebanese Government, Nasser Yassin, according to the state agency NNA. Specifically, in the last 24 hours, Israeli attacks have caused 60 deaths and nearly 170 injuries.
The day before, the Israeli Army launched an attack against the Lebanese capital, Beirut, which left more than twenty dead and dozens injured. This is estimated to be Israel’s deadliest attack in Beirut since the outbreak of hostilities.
Hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah broke out just over a year ago when the Islamist militia launched projectiles against Israeli territory in solidarity with the Palestinian cause and after Hamas had attacked Israel, leaving almost 1,200 dead and 240 hostages, which motivated the bloody Israeli response, which has now left more than 42,100 dead.
The Israeli Army intensified its offensive against Hezbollah in mid-September with “selective bombings” against positions in southern Lebanon and even neighborhoods of Beirut. These attacks have managed to decapitate the Islamist group with the death of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, and some of his possible successors.
The high number of injuries is due to the coordinated explosion at the beginning of September of thousands of communication devices – ‘pagers’ and ‘walkie-talkies’ – supposedly linked to Hezbollah, which together with its partners quickly came forward to hold Hezbollah responsible. Israel, which, however, never made a statement on the matter.
