28 () – A woman and a three-year-old child were killed early Friday in the Dnipro region after shelling that took place throughout the night in Ukraine.

As confirmed by the mayor, Boris Filatov, these two people have died after “‘precision attacks’ by Russian fighters.”

In addition, the spokesman for the State Police in the Cherkasy region, in the center of the country, has reported that a missile has hit a residential building in the city of Uman, leaving at least three dead and eight injured, who are being treated at area hospitals.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeri Zaluzhni, has confirmed that since 04:00 local time, various air alerts were activated throughout the country when receiving the attack of Tu-35 strategic aircraft.

“The anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with the air defense systems of other components of the Defense Forces, destroyed 21 of the 23 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles, as well as two unmanned aerial vehicles of the operational-tactical level,” he specified through a statement.

Specifically, the missiles were destroyed in the areas of responsibility of the ‘Center’ Air Command, ‘East’ Air Command and ‘South’ Air Command.

In the capital, the authorities reported that anti-aircraft defenses came into operation and shot down 11 of the missiles, as well as the two unmanned vehicles, in what was the first attack in the capital in 52 days.

As the only damage in the capital, the authorities have reported power outages in a district and superficial damage to a highway.

Ukraine activated air alerts throughout its territory during the early hours of Friday, from around 02:00 to approximately 06:00 local time.
