The critically-criticized live-action Borderlands movie now has a digital release date and you can watch it on Prime Video, Apple TV and more platforms

The film inspired by Borderlands had a lot of potential, especially because there was talent behind and in front of the cameras; however, its boring story and unmemorable characters did not connect with the audience. After its troubled run in theaters, it will finally arrive digital platforms.

Video game adaptations for film and television have gone through a very positive push in recent years thanks to high-quality productions that were commercially and critically successful; however, from time to time projects debut that, for one reason or another, fail to captivate the masses.

That was the case of Borderlandsfilm directed by Eli Roth and starring Cate Blanchett, Ariana Greenblatt, Jack Black, Jamie Lee Curtis and Kevin HartBefore its theatrical release, the first reviews from journalists and influencers were unfriendly, to say the least.

The Lionsgate-produced film received extremely negative reviews upon its official debut, which immediately led to it being considered one of the worst releases of 2024Its poor reception was reflected in poor commercial performance.

Borderlands is coming to digital platforms after failing in theaters

Previously, reports of The Hollywood Handle and When to Stream They pointed out that the critically acclaimed live-action film based on the video game Gearbox and 2K would arrive on digital platforms during the final stages of this month. Now, Lionsgate confirmed the release date of the home format.

According to the information, the film of Borderlands will be available for purchase or rental starting on August 30th in Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Apple TV and other platforms. It is unknown if it will only reach USA or if it can also be enjoyed in other regions, including Latin America.

Interested persons can purchase the feature film at $24.99 USD and rent it for 48 hours in exchange for $19.99 USDIts release on digital platforms comes just 3 weeks after its debut in theaters, where it grossed $24 million against an approximate budget of $115 million (plus distribution and marketing costs).
