The Prime Minister of Slovenia, Robert Golob, announced this Tuesday that it will propose this Thursday to the Council of Ministers the recognition of Palestine as a State.
The proposal, once approved by the Council of Ministers, will be submitted to the National Assembly for voting, which could occur on June 4, according to the Slovenian newspaper Dnevnik.
“After a series of consultations in recent days, I have decided to include the resolution of recognition of Palestine in the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Thursday,” Golob said during his official visit to Algeria.

The Slovenian official stressed that Slovenia “is a responsible member of the UN Security Council and is obliged to do everything in its power to achieve a lasting peace in the Middle East”, has argued.
This same Monday, the Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tanja Fajon, announced that it will recommend that the Government complete the procedure for the recognition of Palestine this week and subsequently refer the issue to the National Assembly in order to complete the formal recognition process “as soon as possible.”
The process formally began on May 9 with the intention of bringing the vote to parliament before June 13, according to the Slovenian Government, which thus joins Spain, Ireland and Norway who have also initiated the recognition of Palestine as a state.
