The increase contrasts with the general annual inflation of 4.4% recorded in the national economy at the end of the first half of December, according to Inegi data.
“In a home where there are at least two small children, (the Kings) will spend on this occasion at least 1,145 pesos buying a pair of average branded toys, which last year was 915 pesos (and which) represents an approximate increase of 25%,” said the National Alliance of Small Merchants (Anpec).
The organization exemplified that Lego toys range from 325 to 2,236 pesos; Hot Wheels tracks are between 356 and 2,368 pesos; action figures range between 195 and 1,266 pesos.
While Barbies range from 337 to 1,610 pesos, and a makeup kit for girls ranges from 339 to 2,023 pesos.
And the Thread?
In a meeting of 15 people, with a traditional bagel and chocolate, the average expense will be 745 pesos, which represents an increase of 20% compared to 622 pesos in 2024.
Traditional threads are the most accessible for most homes: the price can be 240 pesos, although it will vary depending on where you buy it.
“Gourmet bagels with ingredients, fillings and innovative presentations, in a small size, can be obtained for up to 270 pesos in neighborhood bakeries, 433 pesos in a supermarket and up to 550 pesos in a franchise bakery; while the large thread can reach up to 800 pesos,” Anpec explained.
