The Independent Office for Regulation and Supervision of Procurement (OIRES), a body attached to the Ministry of Finance, will present the main conclusions of the annual public procurement report in 2023 in Congress next Tuesday.
It will be in the Joint Commission of Congress and Senate for Relations with the Court of Accounts where the president of the organization, María Luisa Araújo Chamorro, will present the main figures of public procurement in Spain.
The report points out that, in terms of number of tenders, just over 50% of public sector contracts correspond to local entities, although if we look at their amount, the regional public sector is the one that has the greatest percentage weight, with a 40.39%.
MORE THAN 180,000 TENDERS
Specifically, in 2022, which is the period analyzed in the report, there were 183,277 tenders in Spain, of which 91,754 corresponded to the local public sector. On the other hand, 49,774 were for the regional sector and 41,749 tenders were for the state sector.
In economic terms, the tenders amounted to a total of 100,692 million euros that year. Of that figure, 40,673 million corresponded to the regional sector, 33,382 million to the local sector and 26,636 million to the state sector.
The document also indicates that 77.11% of public sector procurement is managed according to the open procedure, which has an average processing time of 156.04 days; or the simplified procedure, which accumulates an average time of 98.97 days.
