The Congress debates a proposal of the PP to "end the attacks" from the government to businessmen

May 27. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Plenary Session of Congress will discuss this week an initiative of the PP by which it urges the Government to “end the attacks” that members of the Executive have been launching against certain businessmen and economic sectors.

This is a motion resulting from the urgent interpellation that the PP directed two weeks ago in the Lower House to the economic vice president, Nadia Calviño, and whose text will be voted on in the first plenary session after the local and regional elections.

Without making an express mention, the ‘popular’ refers to some episodes starring Podemos ministers, such as the general secretary of the ‘purple’, Ione Belarra, against the president of Mercadona, Joan Roig, and the distribution sector by the rise in prices, or against those responsible for Ferrovial for moving its headquarters to the Netherlands.

REVOKE INTERVENTIONISM

For the PP, the Government must promote business freedom as a “determinant value” in an open economy, as well as promote a framework of “institutional stability” that favors entrepreneurship and business investment.

The PP’s motion, collected by Europa Press, starts from the thesis that Calviño in his interpellation “lied again” and “did not make any proposal.” For this reason, the Popular Group calls for a boost to business freedom against “interventionist measures that hinder the free market and economic growth.”

It also urges the Popular Group to defend private property as a constitutional right and equal opportunities. In another order of things, the PP proposes to implement in the Public Administration “effectively” the principles of good governance, transparency and accountability, especially in relation to resources from European funds.
