The collapse of a coal mine in China leaves at least two dead and more than 50 trapped by rocks

At least two people have died and more than fifty have been buried by rocks after the collapse of an open-cast coal mine located in the Chinese city of Alxa, in the northern region of Inner Mongolia.

According to the first reports, the rescue teams have managed to remove a total of eight people from the rubble, including the deceased, according to China Central Television (CCTV).

Eight rescue teams, made up of more than 330 members and nearly 130 vehicles dedicated to emergency work, have traveled to the scene of the event. These teams also work to avoid possible secondary disasters.

The President of China, Xi Jinping, has ordered the necessary resources to be focused on this matter and has advocated starting the appropriate investigations to find out as soon as possible the causes of the accident and settle responsibilities.

Along the same lines, the Prime Minister, Li Keqiang, has urged to reinforce the rescue efforts to locate the more than 50 missing.
