The candidate for the presidential elections of the Czech Republic and former president of the NATO Military Committee, Petr Pavel, has denied this Thursday the information about his alleged death, a matter that is already being investigated by the authorities.
“Yes, I am alive. I never thought I would be forced to write it. Someone is releasing a copy of an alleged report on my death on behalf of my press secretary. The campaign against me has reached a new low, we are going to reject this by the polls”, he asserted in a message posted on his Twitter account.
The information in question indicated that Pavel would have died on Thursday morning “suddenly”. The Czech Police, for its part, has confirmed that they are investigating the incident just one day after the start of the second round of the presidential elections, in which he is measured against former Prime Minister Andrej Babis.
“It is abominable, I am horrified that someone would do this. The Police must review this thoroughly, just like a letter that threatens my death,” Pavel pointed out. Babis, for his part, has denounced having also received death threats during the campaign.
