The Canary migratory route was the one that registered a largest increase of irregular arrivals throughout the European Union – specifically, 174% – during the first half of the year, according to the latest report released this Thursday by the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex).

Taking into account all routes, the number of irregular entries into the European Union during the first six months of 2024 fell by almost a third (30%), to 94,000 people.
