( Spanish) — Movie lovers are partying in Buenos Aires. From this Wednesday until May 1, the 24th edition of Bafici (Buenos Aires Independent Film Festival) will take place, which will have three official competitions, divided into National, International and Vanguard and Genre.
There will be 13 days of celebrating the seventh art in which 250 films will be screened. There will be 450 face-to-face functions and more than 60 international guests.
The Argentine film “Último recurso”, by Matías Szulanski, will open Bafici this Wednesday. The closing will be on May 1 with the film “I am a good person”, by the Spanish Norberto Ramos del Val.
This international festival, one of the most prominent in Latin America, will also screen works by the Korean director Hong Sang-Soo, the American Paul Schrader and the Filipino Lav Diaz. It will be possible to see “Blondi”, the debut feature of the Argentine actress Dolores Fonzi; and “Clorindo Testa”, by the Argentine director and screenwriter Mariano Llinas.
Bafici’s hallmark is to show new, experimental and innovative cinema, both nationally and internationally. But it is also the setting to enjoy live orchestras, debate tables, script readings, book presentations, face-to-face and online talks.
This edition will have 15 venues and will have more than 30 programs of special activities related to the festival. The average cost of tickets will be just over US$1 ($300) and there will be 10% of free performances.
