The alleged perpetrator of the weekend attack on Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida had sued the Japanese government for preventing him from standing as a candidate in an election, a matter that investigators are now addressing as a possible motive for carrying out the attack. .
Ryuji Kimura, 24, filed the lawsuit with the Kobe district court in June 2022 and in it he branded as illegal the “blockade” suffered by the Administration, which prevented him from being a candidate for the parliamentary elections, according to reports. of the newspaper ‘The Japan Times’.
The authorities then claimed that he was not capable of delivering the minimum amount necessary to be a candidate and also specified that he did not meet the age requirements.
Kimura also attacked the Kishida government for celebrating the funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe — which entailed costs of more than 11 million euros — after his assassination despite public opposition and warned that such a challenge “It should not be tolerated in a democracy.”
The young man requested compensation for damages, although the Japanese Justice closed the case in November 2022. Subsequently, he filed an appeal before the Osaka High Court, which will issue a ruling next month.
