The Australian Ministry of Defense suffers a cyberattack

Oct. 31 () –

The Australian authorities have reported this Monday that the ForceNet communication platform, a tool used by the country’s Ministry of Defense, has suffered a cyberattack that could have compromised the personal data of current or former workers.

ForceNet is managed by an external provider, although the company itself has assured that no data would have been compromised. However, from Defense they fear that some personal information has been leaked, such as dates of birth or enlistment.

In a message addressed to their staff, the Defense authorities have emphasized that they are investigating the case and have said they take the matter “very seriously”, according to information from the newspaper ‘The Australian’.

The incident has taken place just five days after Medibank, a major Australian private health insurance company, confirmed that it had suffered a computer attack that would have led to the theft of the data of at least four million clients.
