NIO, the Asian car manufacturer, which is also known as “the Chinese Tesla”, announced this Friday that its business in the European market will be based mainly on the rent your cars. “We will not sell them,” the company’s CEO said at an event of his own.
According to Reuters, NIO assures that this movement responds to a commercial strategy that has as its axis the flexibility that it has been promoting with other of its measures. It is a premise that they hope will be effective in promoting the adoption of the electric car.
NIO will arrive this year in several European countries
The company, which already has a presence in Norway, is preparing its deployment in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden. Customers in these countries will have the choice between the three models already available on the Chinese market.
We are talking about the ET7, the ET5 and the EL7. It should be noted that the latter has been renamed from its original name, ES7, due to a legal dispute with the German manufacturer Audi, owned by the Volkswagen group.
NIO’s commercial strategy for the new European countries will consist of a subscription model for users, although there will also be a rental option for corporate clients. The company has advanced that you can rent a car for a price of between 1,199 and 1,295 euros per month.
Let us remember that the Chinese manufacturer has registered very modest sales of electric cars in Norway, a country in which Tesla has been crowned king. Despite this, he hopes to continue expanding throughout the continent, a movement that he considers key to his international expansion.
NIO’s plans, according to NasdaqThey plan to enter five more European countries next year. But that will only be the preliminary step to a much larger global expansion that consists of its arrival in 25 countries by 2025.
