On the one hand, the AMD Threadripper PRO 5000 WX announcementSeries was a renewal of one of the most curious ranges of processors in recent times, characterized by a huge number of cores and threads for the most demanding users. On the other hand, the fact that only PRO WX models were announced meant the end of an era, which meant that these processors would be aimed at professional users, definitively abandoning the most enthusiastic home users. That strategy looks set to be similar at Intel, where the most recently leaked models are from the Xeon range.
Now, the prices they will have the new ones AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5995WX, AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5975WX, and AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5965WX confirm that they will not be CPUs for anyone.
We are talking about the fact that the cheapest model of the three unveiled, the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5965WX, will have a price of $2,399, while the most powerful model, the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5995WX, will go up to an impressive $6,499. In the middle is the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5975WX with an official price of $3,299.
In the cheapest case, we are talking about a price that doubles that of models such as the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X. If we compare the top of the range models, the Threadripper 3990X cost about 4,000 euros, an amount significantly lower than the 6,500 of the 5995WX.
The price of the cheapest models is yet to be known, but they will be 16- and 12-core models that will not stand out as much from the mainstream Ryzen range, whose next Ryzen 7000 is expected to reach 16 cores.
