The AMD Radeon RX 7600 has better RAM and cache latencies than the RX 7900 XTX

It seems that AMD still has work to do in terms of the performance of its chiplet-based GPU architectures, because according to what we can read in Chips and Cheeseit seems that the AMD Radeon RX 7600 boasts better RAM and cache latencies than the company’s flagship, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX.

Although this difference seems to be entirely attributable to the architectural difference between the two chips – after all, it is no surprise that the greater the distance between chips, the greater the latencies – there is also a certain factor that has to do with the size of the data to be read.

As we see in the graphslatency increases in both chips as larger is the data to be receivedbut it is also true that unlike what happened in the RX 6000 series, there seem to be latency spikes that are difficult to explain, at least for now.

It is possible that this situation could change slightly as AMD develops new versions of the graphics drivers for these cards, but we probably won’t see the latency of the Radeon RX 7900 XTX being remarkably lower than that of the RX 7600as you would expect from a higher performing GPU.
