Despite the fact that January, March and April were months of capital gains, the fall in February and May affected workers.
The Consar has not said if the transfers of Afores will be suspended again due to this fall.
At the end of last year, the Consar blocked the transfers of Afores to prevent workers from making the loss of resources effective with this change. However, since the last week of May, this lock had been cancelled.
Unemployment withdrawals increase
Unemployment withdrawals from Afores also saw an 11.4% increase in May compared to last year.
Workers who lost their jobs withdrew 2,164.6 million pesos from their retirement account. In the accumulated from January to May, withdrawals have risen 10.4% compared to 2022 with a total amount of 9,747.3 million pesos
Editor’s note: The Consar erroneously reported that the losses of the Afores were 241.630 million pesos in May, however, it later corrected the data to 241.630 million pesos, for which reason the text was corrected.
