What are Cetes and how do they work?
The Federal Treasury Certificates (Cetes) are a debt instrument issued by the federal government. These are promissory notes to raise funds over a certain period and that generate returns for those who invest in them.
They were issued for the first time in January 1978 and since then have been a fundamental pillar in the development of the money market in Mexico, according to the Bank of Mexico (Banxico).
What types of Cetes are there?
It can be said that there are four types of Cetes that are determined by the time in which you want to invest your money. I mean, you can invest at 28, 91, 182 and 364 days.
The 28-day Cetes they have a performance of 10.8% per year, those of 91 days of 11.05% and those of 364 of 11.18%. The nominal value of the Cetes is 10 pesos and they are sold at a discount rate, that is, you will pay less than 10 pesos, so the difference will be the profit that the investor will obtain.
How much do the Cetes pay?
Cetes are a safe way to invest, but it is important to consider that just as their risk is lower, their yield is also one of the lowest compared to other investment alternatives.
You can start investing in them from 100 pesos and it is possible to know the return that the investment will have because the interest rate is fixed, depending on the term you choose.
The Cetesdirecto app offers you a tool to calculate the return on your investments and you can find it in the following links .
The requirements to invest in Cetes are to be of legal age, have your CURP and a bank account to make money transfers.
