The Center for the Administration of the COVID-19 Situation (CCSA) has approved the proposal to extend the maximum stay for international tourists, applicable to nationals of countries with visa waiver agreements and visas on arrival.

This new rule, which will come into force from October 1, 2022 to March 31, 2033, will extend the maximum period of stay for those traveling from countries with visa exemption agreements from 30 to 45 days, and tourists with the right to visa on arrival may stay up to 30 days, doubling the current period of 15 days.

CCSA spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin said that this extension is intended to promote the recovery of the economy and businesses affected by the pandemic.

He said that this campaign will help generate more revenue by attracting more visitors and encouraging them to spend more.

Thailand’s tourism sector is gradually recovering from the pandemic. The country received some 1.07 million international visitors in July 2022, and some 157 billion baht in tourism revenue between January and July 2022.
