Thailand and Malaysia they are in talks to discuss the construction of bridges over the Golok River in order to boost bilateral trade.

According to the deputy government spokesman, Ratchada Thanadirek, both countries are discussing the construction of two new bridges over the Golok River, which will connect the districts of Sungai Kolok and Takbai, in Narathiwat province, with the state of Kelantan, in Malaysia. The projects are part of the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) development initiative.

Under this initiative, a six-lane bridge will be built parallel to the existing one in Sungai Kolok district to relieve traffic congestion. The second bridge will connect Takbai with Pengkalan Kubor in Malaysia as part of an 11-kilometre highway with 4-6 traffic lanes.

The deputy spokesman said both countries also plan to build a road connecting the Sadao Immigration and Quarantine (IQC) complex in Songkhla province and the Bukit Kayu Hitam Integrated Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex in Bukit Kayu Hitam. the Malaysian state of Kedah.

According to Deputy Government Spokesman Ratchada Thanadirek, both countries are discussing the construction of two new bridges over the Golok River.

The deputy spokesman said that both governments hope that these projects will lead to an increase in trade and tourism, which will support sustainable economic growth between the two special economic zones of both nations.
