Thailand and India have agreed to launch a cultural exchange program on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. The two nations have also agreed to expand cooperation in trade, investment and tourism.
The agreement was formalized at a signing ceremony chaired by Thai Culture Minister Itthiphol Kunplome and broadcast remotely from Bangkok’s Ratchadamnoen Center for Contemporary Art.
Minister Itthiphol said that the Indian Ministry of Culture established a cultural exchange program with the Thai government in 2007. This year, both ministries have approved the launch of a cultural exchange program to specifically promote cooperation.

The program will include exchanges in the fields of music, dance and anthropology. Events to commemorate the 75th and 80th anniversaries of diplomatic relations will also be held in 2022 and 2027, respectively. The aim is to promote cultural understanding between Thailand and India, which in turn will benefit trade, investment and tourism.
The two nations have also agreed to expand cooperation in trade, investment and tourism.
An exhibition on Thai-Indian relations is currently being held at the art center until January 11 and is open to the general public.
