thailand is positioning as the future ASEAN energy and mobility hub, with the goal of contributing to global sustainability efforts by collaborating with countries around the world.
Permanent Under Secretary for Energy Veerapat Kiatfuengfoo unveiled this ambitious goal during his speech at the opening ceremony of the “Future Energy Asia and Future Mobility Asia Exhibition and Summit 2023” on May 17.
Highlighting the importance of green and clean energy with minimal environmental impact, Veerapat stressed that many countries, including Thailand, have committed to achieving carbon neutrality and net zero emissions by 2050. He stressed that sustainability requires concerted efforts and He expressed Thailand’s aspiration to serve as the hub of the Southeast Asia region, facilitating the sharing of green innovation technology and energy solutions with the rest of the world.
Echoing Veerapat’s views, Pisut Painmanakul, secretary to the Thai energy ministry, said Thailand already has several advantages that make it a regional clean energy and mobility hub.
Both Veerapat and Pisut noted, however, that Thailand cannot achieve sustainability on its own and stressed the importance of close collaboration with international partners. Both considered the “Future Energy Asia and Future Mobility Asia Exhibition and Summit” as a platform to foster such collaboration.
