7 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Hundreds of people have gathered just before dawn in the vicinity of the Al Aqsa Mosque, in the Jerusalem Mosques, after a night of continuous shelling of the Gaza Strip by the Israel Defense Forces ( IDF), in response to rockets launched from the Strip and from southern Lebanon.
Muslims have gathered for the first of Islam’s daily prayers, Fajr, as they have for the past few days during Ramadan. According to the Felesteen outlet, which accounts for more than a thousand attendees, the prayers have turned into cries of protest and condemnation for the double raid on the mosque in recent days.
Israel has activated the air alert in all towns near the border with the Strip, asking its citizens to seek refuge until further notice.
In addition, the Wafa agency has assured that the Israel Police has begun to attack dozens of faithful in front of the Hatta gates, one of the accesses to Al Aqsa, when they tried to enter the mosque.
The Israel Security Forces would have prohibited men under 40 years of age from entering the building of worship, to prevent them from entrenching themselves inside, as they claim they have done in recent days, thus explaining the reason for their assault on the mosque in the last two nights.
The Israeli Security Forces expect more than 100,000 people in the compound for this Friday, which during the month of Ramadan is an important place of worship for the three religions that coexist in a tense balance and that celebrate these weeks important religious festivities: the Ramadan for Muslims; Jewish Easter, and Good Friday that Christians celebrate today.
A NIGHT OF TENSION THROUGHOUT THE REGION
The tension is maximum in the area after tonight there have been, according to the SDF, 44 launches of rockets and missiles from the Gaza Strip to the southern area of Israel.
According to a press conference by an Army spokesman, Daniel Hagari, in statements collected by ‘The Times of Israel’, nine of these rockets did not reach Israeli territory, twelve were launched into the sea, 14 fell in open areas and eight were intercepted by Israel’s air defense system.
One of the projectiles has hit a house in the city of Sderot, with no injuries or major damage reported.
Israel has also launched an air strike against Lebanon this morning, in response to thirty projectiles launched from the south of this country towards Israeli territory. According to the Lebanese newspaper ‘L’Orient le Jour’, the missiles would have hit open spaces near the Rashidiya Palestinian refugee camp, with no damage reported so far.
“The Lebanese state is considered responsible for everything that happens on its territory, including the launches of the Palestinian factions of Hamas, we will not allow them to operate from Lebanon,” the spokesman justified.
In addition, the Palestinian media denounces the burning of vehicles overnight in the Arab-majority city of Kafr Qasim, located east of Tel Aviv, by Israeli citizens in an alleged attempt to intimidate their Arab neighbors.
Wafa has reported that, in addition to burning several vehicles and damaging several buildings, some Israelis have written racist slogans against Arab citizens on walls throughout the city. It would not be the first time that this city has suffered this type of incident against the Arab population by Israeli extremists.
