At least ten people have died in recent days due to a new outbreak of cholera in the Nigerian state of Enugu, located in the south of the country, as confirmed by authorities.

Egwuonwu Samuel, director of Medical Services of the Ministry of Health for Enugu, has assured that there are already activities underway to contain the outbreak and has asked medical centers for “a high degree of vigilance” in the face of patients with symptoms consistent with the disease.

“We call for the urgent implementation of reinforcement of prevention and control measures in all medical facilities to contain the spread of the disease,” he said, as reported by the Nigerian state news agency, NAN.
