At least ten children have drowned after a boat sank in the Nyabarongo River as it passes through the Rwandan town of Muhanga, located in the center of the country, authorities have confirmed.
The Rwandan National Police spokesman, John Bosco Kabera, has indicated in statements to the Rwandan newspaper ‘The New Times’ that the event took place on Monday afternoon and added that a 41-year-old man has been arrested after the event. .
Thus, he has indicated that the man had rented a boat to transfer thirteen children from the town to help him move construction material to Ngororero, where he intended to sell it.
However, the boat sank halfway, causing the death of ten children, whose bodies have not yet been located. Kabera has noted that all the victims were between the ages of eleven and 15.
