The pop superstar owns the copyrights to his recordings through a 2018 deal reached with Universal that allows him to control where his work is made available, unlike many other artists, according to the report.
TikTok, Universal Music and representatives for Taylor Swift did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.
Universal Music stopped licensing its content to the TikTok and TikTok Music services when its deal expired on January 31.
TikTok subsequently removed the label's songs from its platform and muted videos in which those songs appeared, written by any songwriter subscribed to Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG).
Universal Music Group is the parent company of UMPG, which represents a wide list of artists such as Taylor Swift, Jon Batiste, boygenius and Ariana Grande, among others.
