‘Tales of the Shire’, the Lord of the Rings game that will come to mobile phones exclusively with Netflix Games

Netflix has a game catalog increasingly interesting. What began in 2021 with a bet that we could describe as modest has become stronger over time. The streaming giant is clear: it wants to be an important player in this industry and not a mere viewer that offers an additional benefit to its subscribers.

For users, this can be achieved with titles that they enjoy and that, by the way, they decide to do so under their Netflix membership and not other alternatives. After embracing franchises like ‘GTA’ and ‘Sonic’, the company just announced than a game of The Lord of the Rings that has a particularity.

‘Tales of the Shire’ lands on Netflix

We are talking about ‘Tales of the Shire’, a title inspired by the literary work of JRR Tolkien that will be available on iOS and Android exclusively for Netflix subscribers. This means that, at least for now, we will not be able to buy the game directly to enjoy it on mobile phones.

It is a development by Wētā Workshop that invites us to immerse ourselves in the life of a Hobbit. The game will allow us to customize our character and decorate our home with different furniture and elements. What will the mission be? Well, agriculture is a central part of ‘Tales of the Shire’.

We will have to practice fishing and agriculture to supply ourselves with food. The title will allow us demonstrate our skills culinary with the food we have collected, but not only that. We can also explore the Shire to “discover forbidden secrets and treasures” and obtain rewards.

The style of play will not be solitary. We can also interact with other characters to, for example, improve skills or change clothes. The final mission of the game is to turn Delagua, a place surrounded by lakes, into a picturesque village inhabited by happy Hobbits.

You may be wondering when this title will be available. We don’t have a precise date, but Netflix has said that coming “soon” this year. On the other hand, we do know when other games will arrive. Below, you will see a list of pending titles along with their release date.
