Published after recent Chinese military exercises in the airspace and waters near Taiwan, the document expresses the concern of the island’s Caribbean ally over the maneuvers that threaten Taiwan and undermine peace and security in Asia.
According to the statement, “coercive measures, threats and intimidation have no place in modern relations between nation states or territories. Such imperial or hegemonic behavior is abominable and contrary to the precepts of the United Nations Charter.” , also calls for mature diplomacy and constructive engagement as pathways to peace and prosperity in the Taiwan Strait and beyond.
