He Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan (MOFA) said the nation’s government strongly condemns Russia’s airstrike on kyiv.
According to MOFA, the attack damaged the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv, killing or injuring dozens of people. The ministry conveyed its condolences to the hospital’s superintendent through the Taipei Representative Office in Poland. It also announced a donation of US$200,000 for the facility to purchase medical supplies, clarifying that MOFA will continue to provide assistance when needed.
Taiwan has donated more than NT$900 million (US$27.6 million) to aid Ukraine since the outbreak of the war between Russia and Ukraine in February 2022. Of that amount, US$1 million was used to facilitate Okhmatdyt’s purchase of medical equipment, the ministry said.

MOFA calls on Russia to respect Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity by immediately ending its invasion and restoring peace.
Taiwan will continue to fulfill its responsibilities as a force for good and work with like-minded partners to safeguard freedom, democracy and respect for human rights and the rule of law, the ministry said.
The country is a strong supporter of Ukraine, as evidenced by its endorsement of a statement that brought together more than 40 member economies of the World Trade Organization to speak on behalf of Ukraine in February in Abu Dhabi. A short video entitled “The Ukraine Declaration” was also released last November. Taiwan defends freedom to describe how the nation’s aid has been used in collaboration with contributions from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to help Ukrainians directly and at the infrastructural level.
In a post on its official X account, MOFA said: “No attack on civilians can be justified or condoned. We join democracies around the world in condemning Russia’s brutal missile attack, especially the bombing of Kyiv’s Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital, a facility Taiwan has proudly supported. Our hearts go out to those affected and to everyone in Ukraine.”
