Vice Chairman of the French Senate European Affairs Committee Cyril Pellevat leads a multi-party delegation from the French Senate to Taiwan according to reportor the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) through a press release.
The delegation also includes the deputy chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Committee, Olivier Cadic, and senators Alain Marc, Brigitte Devésa and Pierre-Antoine Levi, MOFA said.
The delegation is scheduled to meet with Vice President Lai Ching-te, Legislative Yuan President You Si-kun and other senior government officials to discuss security, technology and innovation in the Indo-Pacific, chain security of supplies and matters of mutual interest.
US delegation arrives in Taiwan
Pellevat spares no effort in supporting Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Assembly (WHA), MOFA said, adding that the vice-chairman of the French Senate Committee on European Affairs was actively involved in co-chairing the Formosa Club in the region. and jointly wrote a letter to the Director General of the World Health Organization supporting Taiwan’s participation in the WHA, showing a high degree of friendship.
This trip marks Pellevat’s third trip to Taiwan after his trips in 2016 and 2017. The purpose of this visit is to further deepen the solid friendship between the peoples of both sides and the substantive association of mutual benefit, as well as the joint promotion of peace, stability and economic prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
On its official Twitter account, MOFA extended a warm welcome to Taiwan to Pellevat and his accompanying delegation, wishing them a fruitful six-day visit to promote peace in the Indo-Pacific.
