A course on innovative technologies in vegetable growing will be held in the Taiwanese capital until July 7, according to the Taiwan Ministry of Agriculture (MOA, according to its acronym in English).

The event focuses on the exhibition of smart technologies for growing vegetables, as well as avenues for future development. Participants will also visit the Taoyuan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station of the Taiwanese Ministry of Agriculture, among other places. The aim is to gain a deeper understanding of the application of agricultural technology in Taiwan.

Founded in 1961 in Tokyo, APO provides technical and management services in the agricultural, industrial and service sectors to improve productivity, economic prosperity and standards of living for members. Taiwan is one of the founding members, the MOA added.

Rapid urbanization and industrialization have taken their toll on arable land and the resources needed to cultivate it. According to the ministry, advanced smart technologies can be adopted to optimize the agricultural process, reduce losses during production and increase yield.

During the five-day event, attendees will share their experiences and experts from Indonesia, Japan and Taiwan will present innovative techniques. The MOA stated that the multinational exchange will facilitate the internationalization of the nation’s agriculture.
