The Taiwan Army has included key civil defense instructions for the first time on Tuesday to be able to identify the military and soldiers of the Chinese Armed Forces.
The authorities, who published last year a manual of measures to guarantee the defense of the population in the face of the increase in tension with China and after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, have given a series of instructions on how to find bomb shelters, obtain supply of food or drinking water through mobile phone applications or preparing emergency kits.
The Taiwan Ministry of Defense has thus introduced changes to its manual to now include images of soldiers in Chinese Army uniforms, according to information from the CNA news agency.
“It really is difficult to distinguish them,” a senior official has admitted in statements to the press. Thus, he explained that the authorities are already working to get a version in English.
China continues to regard Taiwan as another province under its sovereignty despite the fact that Taipei has opposed this issue and has increased political and military pressure against the Asian giant over the past three years.
Taiwan has also been inspecting facilities and bomb shelters to see if they are operational and in good repair if they need to be used.
