taiwan will donate to Ukraine more than 100 retired ambulances, fire trucks and wheelchair vans, underscoring their “commitment to supporting the Eastern European country in its fight against authoritarian expansion,” according to the Taiwanese Foreign Ministry. (MOFAs).
The donation was jointly arranged by the non-profit Taiwan Association of Community Advancement and individuals, with the help of MOFA, the ministry said.
Selected from available central and local government vehicles and repaired with funds from a philanthropic businessman in Changhua County in central Taiwan, the first batch of 48 vehicles will be sent to Ukraine to help soldiers and citizens in the front of the war with Russia, the MOFA added.

Kira Rudik, leader of the Ukrainian liberal Holos party, expressed his gratitude to Taiwan in a pre-recorded video. “The generous aid shows that Ukraine is not fighting alone,” the Ukrainian leader said, adding that the vehicles will be used to protect the country’s population from her.
Taiwan and Ukraine share the universal values of freedom and democracy. Since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Taiwan has donated more than 57 million US dollars and more than 700 tons of humanitarian aid supplies, MOFA added.
