Oct. 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense has reported a series of new incursions by Chinese People’s Liberation Army planes and ships into Taiwanese airspace and sea.
The Taiwanese Defense Ministry has confirmed incursions of 22 aircraft and three ships this Friday, while on Thursday it spoke of about twenty aircraft and three other Chinese ships.
The island’s government has made use of its social networks to publicize the situation, which has been responded to with the deployment of its own aircraft and military ships while the defense system has been set up.
These incursions follow the usual pattern marked in recent months by the Chinese Army, which came to carry out live fire drills on the coast of the strait as a result of the visit to the island of the president of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi.
Pelosi’s visit was considered by China one of the worst diplomatic insults in recent times, interpreting it as a gesture of recognition by the United States of Taiwan’s independence.
