It highlights that policies must be promoted that not only generate growth, but also ensure that its benefits reach micro, small and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs), which represent 99% of companies in Mexico and generate 65% of employment. .
“To achieve this, it is necessary to move towards the formalization of the economy, addressing the alarming informality that today reaches 54% of employed people, with the objective that more and more companies integrate into the formal market, improving their competitiveness and access to resources, as well as their contributions to the country’s economy and finances,” says Coparmex.
It also says that regional progress is a priority to promote inclusive development. “We agree with the federal government’s proposal to create well-being poles that allow strategic sectors to detonate and promote the growth of all regions of the country. In this sense, from Coparmex we will work with our 71 Business Centers to promote local agendas that allow attracting and retaining talent and investment.
T-MEC and security
Businessmen point out that the T-MEC is one of the main bets for the development of our country, but it also presents important challenges.
Juan José Sierra Álvarez, president of the business organization, comments that the review of the T-MEC that will begin in 2025 offers opportunities and also risks, especially in terms of energy, judicial reform and the implementation of the rest of the constitutional reforms.
Likewise, the President-Elect of the United States, Donald Trump, has defined the issues that will be crucial for the relationship between both countries: Migration, drug trafficking and the commercial relationship with China.
“As a business sector, we must be prepared to accompany the Mexican government in these challenges, offering constructive proposals that strengthen the country’s competitiveness and ensure compliance with our international commitments.”
While on the issue of security, it continues to be the main challenge. According to DataCoparmex, one in two entrepreneurs has been a victim of a crime, which reflects the severity of the insecurity that affects productive activity and everyone’s daily lives.
The perception of insecurity has escalated, becoming the main concern of business owners. Without an environment of well-being, investments will not arrive, companies will not be able to operate at their maximum capacity and the well-being of the population will be compromised.
During the first two months of the current administration’s government, 5,160 murder victims have accumulated (including intentional homicides and feminicides), which exceeds the historical average for a similar period since crime registration began.
