Syria restarts operations at Aleppo airport three days after bombing blamed on Israel

Sep. 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Syrian authorities announced this Friday the restart of operations at the Aleppo International Airport, suspended on Tuesday after a bombing against the facilities blamed on Israel.

“The staff of the General Organization of Civil Aviation, in cooperation with national companies, have repaired the damage caused by the Israeli aggression against the airport on Tuesday night,” the Syrian Ministry of Transport said.

Thus, he has demanded in a statement that the airlines operating at the aerodrome resume their flights and has stressed that the airport will work at full capacity, as reported by the Syrian state news agency, SANA.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry warned Wednesday that Damascus “reserves the right to respond” to Israel’s bombardment, which left at least three dead, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The Israeli Army has carried out dozens of bombings in Syria, arguing that they are acting to prevent the establishment of Iranian bases in the country and the sending of weapons to the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah by the Iranian authorities, which support Damascus in the framework of the war that broke out in 2011.
