The Swedish Police arrested this Friday the main suspect in an attack against three elderly women in the town of Västeras, about one hundred kilometers from Stockholm, and who was shot in the leg during arrest maneuvers.
Emergency services have located three women between 65 and 80 years old with stab wounds and lying in the street. The three have been taken to the hospital, although one of them is in serious condition, reports the SVT network.
Later, the Police managed to find the main suspect of the attacks and proceeded to arrest him. However, during the arrest maneuvers a dangerous situation arose for the agents, who shot the subject in the leg.
“A situation arises in which a police officer feels obliged to use his service weapon against a man. He is arrested and is a suspect,” said regional police spokesman Tobias Ahlén-Svalbro, noting that the subject could be charged with crime.
The police internal affairs department has launched an investigation after the officer used his service weapon. For their part, the authorities have acknowledged that they do not have enough information to clarify whether it is a terrorist attack.
The man, in his 30s, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries to his leg, although his condition is stable.
