MADRID 10 Nov. () –
Only 23 percent of French people approve of the performance of the country’s president, Emmanuel Macron, according to an Ipsos poll for the Sunday newspaper ‘La Tribune Dimanche’; a percentage that is around the historical minimum for the French president as far as studies by this pollster are concerned.
Support for the president has fallen by two percentage points since the last evaluation last month, the same as his Prime Minister, Michel Barnier, whose popular support is now at 31 percent, according to the survey, collected by Bloomberg.
Macron’s 23 percent is the president’s worst result in a monthly Ipsos survey since his arrival at the Elysée in 2017. Support for the president dropped to 20 percent in December 2018, during the height of the protests against the increase in fuel prices and the social policies of the president who championed the popular group known as the “yellow vests.”
The survey covers the days of November 6 to 7 and was carried out on a group of 1,000 people.
